Lois Marie Ann (Gruetzmacher) Schrunk, 79, died on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall. A graveside service will be held next spring.
Lois was born on Sept. 21, 1930, in Le Sueur, Minn., to Ernest and Elsa (Plagmann) Gruetzmacher. She grew up in Le Sueur and graduated from Le Sueur High School. Lois then attended Mankato Business College. She worked for the REA in Mankato for a few years. In 1951, she was united in marriage to Keith Schrunk in Marshall. The couple made their home and raised their family in Marshall. After her children were grown, Lois worked for Schwans, SMSC and Wilson & O’Brien. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, knitting, cooking, travelling and antiquing.
She is survived by her children: Verne (Sandra) Schrunk of West Des Moines, Iowa, Leslie Schrunk of Marshall, Gary Schrunk of Fargo, N.D., and Theresa (Doug) Baune of Wood Lake, Minn.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; siblings Kenneth Gruetzmacher of St. Paul, Robert Gruetzmacher of Bagley, Carol (and Gary) Peach of Waterville, Kent (and Mary) Gruetzmacher of Minneapolis; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Keith, sister Annette and grandson Blaine.
