Mae E. Cooper, age 88, died unexpectedly at the Minnesota Valley Health Center in Le Sueur on Monday, Feb. 15, 2010.
Mae was born on April 19, 1921 in Burwyn, Ill. to Walter and Anna (Lilja) Stickels. She graduated from Bangor High School in Bangor, Mich. Mae married William D. Cooper on Aug. 14, 1940 in Bangor, Mich. They lived in Waukesha, Wis., Aurora, Ill. and Belvidere, Ill. for many years. In 1966 they moved to Le Sueur, Minn., where Mae was a homemaker. She was very active in the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a very active volunteer in various organizations including Le Sueur Hospice, Hospital Auxiliary and was currently active delivering Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed reading, gardening and fishing and was especially known for her generosity.
Mae is survived by her children, Judith (Alan) Vickers of West Brooklyn, Ill., Jack V. Cooper of Belvidere, Ill., William S. (Joyce) Cooper of Woodland, Wash. and Lynn Karels of Le Sueur. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; brother, Walter Stickels of Florida and a sister, Anna Louise Kick of Bangor, Mich. She was preceded in death by her husband, William in 2002; son, Richard; grandson, David and two brothers.
Memorial services were held on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Le Sueur. The Rev. Barbara J. Lindgren officiated. Interment will be in the Mound Cemetery at a later date. Kolden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. |
