Obama's stem cell policy is morally wrong
Email Print
Another Obama change: March 9 Obama signed a presidential memorandum reversing a Bush policy on embryonic stem cells. Obama’s new policy will fund research on embryonic stem cells from aborted babies or so-called surplus embryos from IVF clinics.

Paying back the abortion industry for their election support, Obama’s latest change allows the abortion industry to sell aborted babies to experimental labs, supported by tax monies, for millions of dollars.

Every single success using stem cells in treating spinal cord injuries and multiple sclerosis has involved adult or umbilical cord blood cells, not embryonic stem cells. Past experimentation on embryonic stem cells, “paid for with private monies” has yielded not one treatment success.

Obama stated, “I believe our government has forced a false choice between sound science and moral values.” Apparently Obama believes experimenting on aborted baby parts is sound science. He also apparently believes moral values, ‘God’s natural laws’ should not be of concern in this experimentation. He believes these experimental labs should have no controls over them, civil or moral.

Justin Cardinal Rigali, committee chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops on Pro-Life Activities, stated that Obama’s action is morally wrong. It encourages destruction of innocent human life; treating valuable human beings as mere products to be harvested.

The signing of this executive order by our president, accelerates our country’s slide down the slippery slope of moral decay and destruction. Man can never reap benefits for themselves by killing another human being. Good never comes from evil.

Selling aborted babies??

I'm not sure where you are getting your information, but any embryos used for stem cell research are donated specifically for that purpose. The embryos that are used are not intended to ever enter a uterus. Would you rather they be wasted?

The reason embryonic stem cells have not yielded a success yet is because the FDA just gave clearance in January of 2009 to begin the first human clinical trial of cells derived from human embryonic stem cells. How are they supposed to be successful before they've been tried? Trials of adult cells have been going for 11 years - much longer to achieve results.

Maybe do a little research before you throw out accusations about the "abortion industry". As if there are big, bad companies forcing women to abort babies for profit. Please.
