Thank you, thank you for the outpouring of local support, to businesses and community members, in our efforts to raise money for the 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk we are participating in this August.
We three women are so proud to have raised over $12,000 for this cause!
Our mission has been to promote awareness, as well as raise funds.
So you may see us out walking with pink boas, or see our Giant Ta Ta Supporter tee shirts and yes, we suspended 190 decorated bras Saturday evening – all in the name of raising funds AND awareness.
Breast cancer is a very serious issue. In 2009, an estimated 182,460 new cases will be diagnosed. Our team has both friends and family members affected by this disease and we believe strongly in this cause.
We also believe the old axiom, “laughter is the best medicine,” should prevail. There was nothing but laughter and good times Saturday day night at our “unconventional” fundraiser – laughter from community members, out-of-town guests, breast cancer survivors and their families and the Excelsior Henderson Motorcycle Club.
People came together for a cause and left feeling a little more empowered because they attended, contributed and helped make a difference!
Finally, a HUGE thank you to The Bar and The Green Mill for providing the venue and food for the event. Thanks to Jared Graff for donating his musical talents for a few hours (a crowd favorite) and to Evolution Shirts for the hundreds of our tee shirts. Amazing things happen when people pull together for a common cause – $12,000!!!
Walk on,
Kim Hammes Marnie Dunning Julee Pengilly
